This is day two of our experiential learning trip! We are currently in Abu Dhabi and are learning all about the shipping business of the UAE, as well as the culture. Today we started out at the AD maritime academy where we met up with local students and captains. We then took a trip to Port Kalifa to meet their staff and view their fast growing port with many new innovations. We learned about their five clusters such as economic cities, logistics, ports, maritime shipping , and digitalization. They are one of the fastest growing ports, with over 9 million TEU container handling capacity. Established in 2012, they were the first semi-automated deep after container ports in GCC. Port Khalifa started with two cranes and currently have 41, 33 of which are ship to shore cranes. The Kalifa port has three container, bulk & general cargo, RORO & Rail terminals.
