Day 10: Cole Christianson
Good evening all,
My name is Cole Christianson. I am from Pembroke, MA and I graduated from Pembroke Public High School.
Today was Monday and it was more of a travel day for us. I started my day at 7:30 am. As we headed down to eat breakfast, we were served rice with fried chicken, cucumbers, fruit, and coffee. We were scheduled to leave for Donmeuang International Airport by 8:00 am where we would take a plane to Trang Province. This is in the southern part of Thailand and the coast is very beautiful.
The group and I headed to the airport from AIT via bus. The ride only took about an hour and our plane departed at 11:50 giving everyone plenty of time to sit back and relax. I decided I would get a chicken wrap and a strawberry acai from Starbucks, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Today was Superbowl and we caught bits of it on our phone during the journey.
As we flew, I took that time to rest and woke up about 10 minutes before we landed. When I opened up my window the land looked much different from the Bangkok area. There were beaches and mountains as far as the eye could see. Once we landed everyone got into vans and we made our way to the hotel where we will be staying for the next few days.
This is the nicest place we have stayed at so far on this trip. Once everyone got acclimated to the new place, one of the guides for the trip, Chok, took us down to a mall where we would eat lunch. Chok handed out these cards for us to use at the food court and we were each allowed to spend up to one hundred Thai Baht. For myself I ordered a plate of rice with chicken and vegetables as well as a water bottle. I walked around the mall for a bit. Trang is a much quieter, smaller and scenic place compared to Bangkok.
When we returned to the hotel, everyone took a dip in the pool to cool off from the hot weather. Later on some of the guys and I sat down for dinner at the restaurant inside of the hotel. We had some great service and the food was made to perfection and everyone had a good time. I am extremely excited to see what else Thailand has to offer for us!
